Ruby Gupta

NGO

At the heart of Ruby’s journey is a profound commitment to bridging the gaps that separate the underprivileged from education, hunger from food, job seekers from employment, and aspiring athletes from the opportunity to train. Raised in Kanpur, a major commercial and industrial city in Uttar Pradesh, Ruby grew up with the values of compassion, empathy, and social responsibility instilled by her parents. They taught her that true happiness lies not in wealth but in transforming the lives of those less fortunate.

After completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Christ Church College, Ruby assisted her father in business until her marriage. Her life took a transformative turn when she married into a family deeply committed to philanthropy in Firozabad, a city known for its glass manufacturing and home-based crafts. In Firozabad, Ruby spearheaded initiatives to educate women against early marriages and the exploitation of young children in handicraft jobs. She encouraged them to reinvest their earnings into their children's education, paving the way for a brighter future.

Ruby’s efforts have been supported by organizations such as Round Table India, Ladies Circle India, and Robinhood Army, along with small NGOs dedicated to empowering specially-abled, mentally challenged, and orphaned individuals. Through collaborations with these groups, Ruby has worked to bridge socio-economic divides and provide opportunities for financial independence. By offering vocational training, communication, and leadership skills through camps and workshops, she has empowered youth, especially young women in conservative communities.

The transformation has been remarkable. Women once confined by societal norms have emerged as empowered individuals ready to shape their own futures. Ruby's commitment to gender equality ensures that opportunities are provided equally to boys and girls. Annual preparations for formal school entrances are supported by donations from industrialists and a dedicated team of 11 women.

Sustainable practices, such as repurposing temple flowers into incense sticks and bathing bars, have also created income opportunities. Ruby recalls her childhood observations of social issues and her determination to address them. The journey is challenging but rewarding, marked by the smiles of those whose lives have been transformed.

Ruby’s family and children have been her steadfast supporters, providing encouragement and strength. Her life's purpose is rooted in the belief that each of us has a role in making the world a better place. She inspires others to join her mission, proving that together, we can build a brighter future for all, one act of kindness at a time.
